For those of you unfamiliar with forum lingo, a BAR is a place for discussion about anything and everything. It's basically like a massive IM conversation, forum-style. Anyone can jump in anytime. When the thread gets too long, we'll delete it & make a new BAR. So let's get this party started!
This abyss is frigid. It makes my coffee cold, dammit! |

Hey, did you hear about those scientists who did a study on Hell? They determined that if Hell was exothermic (gives off heat), eventually all Hell would break loose. If Hell was endothermic (takes in heat), eventually Hell would freeze over.
I don't know what my point is. I still want new coffee. |

Hmm.. It actually makes no sense to me...
If something is endothermic.. it absorbs heat...
Your coffee is exothermic.. thus it gets cold... Do you follow me? |

Actuallly, it was vice versa. I had my endo & exo mixed up.
And yes. I demand an endothermic cup of coffee. |

well this conversation is just riveting. no really, im being serious. RIVETING.
. . . ok ill stop being a jerk and make a statement for discussion.
By expecting the unexpected, you've just make the unexpected expected and the expected unexpected, so essentially, by expecting the unexpected you've turned the expected into unexpected and the unexpected into expected, thus accomplishing nothing. |

Tis a loop of logic, tis...
As good of one as the following.
If, in life, you pursue a goal. That is your goal in life.
However, when you achieve it. Does your life end?
No. You find a new goal.
So the meaning of life is to pursue the pursuit of a goal. Unless you can contradict me. |

no i dont believe i can contradict you. but i can give another perspective on the meaning of life that fits your description as well.
i dont know my meaning in life. i dont know my purpose. but i must have one. thats just how i think. but once i fulfill my purpose, do i die? or do i have several purposes? i think i do die. but since id ont know my purpose, what is there for me to do but set goals? the real quetsion is, how do i know whether these goals fit my purpose? i don't. so the only way for me to live my life is to make the best of it and really live. because what's the point of trying to figure out something ill never know? |

I've actually been thinking about this one. If we are only pursuing goals, always looking ahead, always working for something in the future, what happens when we get there? We have to set a new goal. If you live with a goal in mind, always striving for that goal, then you waste a major portion of your life until you reach that goal. And then, suddenly, you have acheived it, and you have no more purpose. I guess you could retire then, but to do what? Learn how to live?
Okay, so now out in text, my thoughts seem a little vague and empty. Hmm. How about this, kiddies: keep your goals in mind, but live in the moment. |

But thats what I'm saying, vince.
The pursuit is what you live for, not the destination.
The odyssey, not Odyssius's home, is the epic adventure. |

| Ah, but the adventure is nothing without the home. |
